Driftwood

I looked for you under every stone washed ashore on the beach

Rounded by each lapping wave

Me too, I think

Softened by your precious kiss

Smoothed, no longer rough

More beautiful, easier to hold

I am every tree branch that has drifted thousands of miles

Now weathered by the sun

Transformed by the sea

The tides have changed them

Bleached boughs they be

They are strong now

Able to carry more weight

Voyages, wash us

Clean us

Help manifest new form

It soothes me a little bit

I walk the beach

As I am with you
